working on a collage/sketch-diary/poetry book with david… our goal is to be done by june 18th… more info on that soon.

We have a new home and it is wonderful… instead of a two-bedroom this time we have a one-bedroom… and we have decided to use the “bedroom” as our studio and sleep in the living room area.. which means a giant studio! Photos soon. xo

There was a fire

in our apartment building last week- we are on the bottom floor and the fire was in the top floor opposite corner. Nothing was touched by flames but the smoke and water from fire hoses ruined a lot of things and we had to get rid of almost all of our food and now have to find a new place to live as soon as we can. Most of the artwork was untouched which is a blessing and things could be worse. So thankful to have David and his family and my family and our wonderful friends to get us through this time. xoxo

Had a day-dream today about buying a piece of land and building a small shack out of 2x4s and tarps, and we just lived there and we were happy all the time…

ART SHOP

I have spent the last few weeks at the gallery revamping and rearranging the art shop- and are getting new products! We just got our new organic soaps from Rocky Top Soap in the mail, and today I ordered a bunch of handmade beeswax candles from a wonderful woman in Minnesota, which should be here by the weekend. We also have many amazing paper products that are perfect for mother’s day or summertime gifts, such as unique paper boxes and gift-card holders.

The 3rd Master Artists + Vermillion Soul: Soo Rye Yoo show is going to be awesome. We are expecting a large amount of people so hopefully the night goes as well as we think! Also we are having a caterer make special food related to the show. Please come and support the gallery!

Soo Rye Art Gallery

We will be having a book signing of A Golden Color Love at the next Soo Rye Gallery show! There will be on the bottom floor, the third annual Master Artists show, and on the top floor an entire show with Soo’s recent work, both which are absolutely breathtaking! It will be professionally catered and it will be quite a night to remember, so it would be great to see many faces there!

Snow today.

I noticed an ad in the WORK section of the paper a few days ago, looking for people to join a traveling circus. Living quarters are included as well as year-round work. I think about it all the time- I can imagine it would be an awesome experience, it just sounds so simple and poetic and fantastic in a way. Someday… someday I will be a traveling carny.

A few weeks ago I started an oil painting… now seriously considering painting over it and beginning something new- I’m not attached to it at all. Maybe tonight. I have been doing some sketches and color studies for a new series, but I’m not sure what medium I want to use for them yet.

We meditate each morning before yoga and breakfast. I feel it is really helping the both of us appreciate each day for what it is, and focus on what’s important in our lives. The centering process before the yoga series is so calming… it’s amazing how I can feel my mind clearing and the energy flowing into my bones and blood and skin. The man on the videotape we use has done it for 20 years, every morning. He must have such a peaceful mind.

Ordered the first book today… in two weeks we will see how it looks! :) 

I am a few short hours away from finishing the book illustrations. Yesterday, did touch ups and final editing, realized I had to do another page, so that’s what I am working on today. Valentine’s day dinner tonight with David, he is making me dinner and I think we have some leftover wine: romance at its best. xo
